With this route you start straight up Heartbreak Hill and through the wall gap, then right to White Moss Common and onto the ascent of Loughrigg Terrace to take in some stunning views of the lake.
After that, you’ll drop down into Chapel Style, weaving through the picturesque slate houses and passed the famous Wainwright pub. From there, you track along Great Langdale Beck into, take care to check out Dungeon Ghyll Force in the distance.
Quick picnic time at Dungeon Ghyll before lacing your boots back up and taking the steep climb up to Stickle Tarn. Tip toe across a few streams and follow the path to high point before. Take in the views then head down by the tarn and through Easdale back to the village to rapturous applause!
Difficulty information
This route is a significant step up from the Peak, demanding a longer day and plenty of stamina. It’s designed for experienced participants who’ve put in solid training and are ready to spend hours on their feet.
With preparation, it’s absolutely achievable within the time and offers a rewarding challenge for those looking to push themselves in the hills.
