Sunbelt Rentals announced as Presenting Partner for the Cumbrian Challenge 2024
By Media Team on
Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) is thrilled to announce Sunbelt Rentals as the Presenting Partner for this year's Cumbrian Challenge event. In addition, Gasway, BAE Systems Submarines, DXC Technology and FDM Group are also supporting the event.
The Cumbrian Challenge is WWTW's flagship fundraising event, drawing in hundreds of participants to conquer the rugged Cumbrian Fells. Participants take on one of three routes to generate vital funds supporting veterans and their families through WWTW's Employment, Mental Health, and Support Care Coordination programmes. Funds raised from the event will enable WWTW to ensure that veterans and their families continue to receive the support they need.
“We are thrilled to announce Sunbelt Rentals as the title sponsor for this year's Cumbrian Challenge event," said James Davis, Events Manager at Walking With The Wounded. "The ongoing dedication of the Sunbelt Rentals team to our cause has been truly inspiring, with numerous teams from the company tackling the Cumbrian Fells year after year in solidarity with veterans and their families. We also extend our thanks to Gasway, BAE Systems Submarines, DXC Technology and FDM Group for their generous support of the Cumbrian Challenge. With this collective support, we aim to make a significant impact, providing vital support to veterans and their families through our core programmes."
Jimmy Scott, Social Impact Manager - Veterans Programme Lead at Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland, said: "We're thrilled to be supporting the Cumbrian Challenge for the third year in a row, this year as the Presenting Partner. The Cumbrian Challenge brings together teammates and other companies, all united in raising vital funds for Walking With The Wounded's Employment, Mental Health, and Support Care Coordination programmes. This event is a major highlight in our Veterans programme, and it perfectly aligns with our sustainability strategy, Our Planet.
I had the privilege of participating in last year's Cumbrian Challenge alongside my teammates, beneficiaries and other Military Veterans and it was truly an inspiring weekend. Witnessing the camaraderie and support amongst the participants was inspiring and helped us all cross the finish line.
We look forward to seeing everyone once again this year on the hopefully sunny hills of Grasmere”.
Andy Merril, Senior Contract Manager at Gasway, added, "We're delighted to support Walking With The Wounded for the Cumbrian Challenge again this year! It's been wonderful to see how employees from across Flagship Group, along with our fantastic suppliers, have again continued to support this great cause.
By participating, we're not just having a great time together, but we're also showing our deep appreciation and support for the amazing individuals who have served. We're all about making a positive impact, and this partnership is a perfect way for us to do just that!"
Jim Perks CBE, Head of Future Workforce Strategy at BAE Systems Submarines, said, "We are delighted to offer continuing support to Walking With The Wounded's Cumbrian Challenge. Our Submarines business on the edge of the English Lake District is proud to be closely associated with the UK's Armed Forces. Good luck to everyone taking part in this year's challenge."
Derek Allison, UKI Market Lead at DXC Technology, said,“We're thrilled to support WWTW's Cumbrian Challenge this May. It's an amazing event where the DXC family can unite as a team to conquer the Cumbrian Fells, all while supporting the fantastic work of the charity and raising funds for veterans and their families. Best of luck to everyone taking on this year’s challenge!”
Stewart Sharman, Global Head of Ex-Forces Programme at FDM Group, said, “For the past nine years, FDM Group has eagerly assembled at the sports field in Grasmere, gearing up to tackle the Cumbrian Challenge. Our continued participation is rooted in the events simplicity and effectiveness. The Cumbrian Challenge lives up to its promise, offering three routes suitable for all levels of experience amidst the breathtaking backdrop of the Lake District. Since 2015, over 300 FDMers have united in the Lake District for the Cumbrian Challenge, contributing to fundraising efforts for WWTW. It's a win-win situation for everyone involved, as we support those in need while enjoying the ultimate outdoor adventure."
