On Saturday the 17 May 25, along with colleagues, I will be tackling the Cumbria Challenge 2025 in support of Walking with The Wounded. This involves a 20k hike through Cumbria’s rugged terrain on the “Tough” course, to raise money for Walking with the Wounded.
This charity not only supports veterans, their families and the families who have lost loved ones, but they spread a message that even when you feel lost and without hope, a brighter future is still within reach. There are countless individuals who have been impacted by conflict, whether physically or mentally, but Walking with the Wounded supports veterans to rebuild their lives despite what they have suffered.
I am particularly inspired by how Walking with the Wounded motivates individuals through physical challenges. As someone with depression and anxiety, I know exercise can be such a powerful form of medicine, and having a challenge to complete, like the Cumbrian Challenge, can provide a real sense of purpose. For me personally, I will also be tackling the most strenuous activity I have done since suffering from stress related seizures, so I am very excited (and nervous) to take on this challenge.
Anything you can spare towards this fantastic cause would be much appreciated.
