The hills of the Lake District are alive – with hundreds tackling challenge for military veterans

By Media Team on

Excitement is building, with less than two weeks to go before Walking With The Wounded’s 15th Cumbrian Challenge kicks off. On Saturday 17th May teams from around the country will tackle a number of challenging routes around Grasmere in the Lake District. All proceeds from the now annual, flagship event help the vital work that charity Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) does with veterans.

Almost 1,000 people are expected to attend the event, with over 200 teams registered to take part. Three different routes are being offered – The Peak, The Tough and The Tougher - each varying in distance, climb and difficulty.

This year WWTW are delighted to be welcoming Sunbelt Rentals back as their headline event sponsor, with DXC, BAE Systems, Gasway, FDM Group and Craghoppers adding their valued sponsorship.

James Davis, Head of Events at WWTW said: “This is our major annual event, and this year’s is gearing up to be spectacular! We couldn’t do it without our sponsors, and we are immensely grateful to them all for enabling us to put on this great weekend, and for staff who enter so many teams and fundraise for us, as well as providing volunteers to help behind the scenes.

“Those that served deserve, and everyone who takes part in the Cumbrian Challenge is contributing to enable Walking With The Wounded to continue to support veterans in need. And having a great time while they do it!”
